Welcome to the Chinese Embassy. Thank you for joining us in celebrating the 66th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.
欢迎大家莅临中国驻美国大使馆，与我们共同庆祝中华人民共和国成立66周年。
This is also a great occasion to celebrate the success of the state visit by President Xi Jinping last week. I would like to take this opportunity to thank my American colleagues most sincerely for your valuable support over the past several months. Together we have made the visit smooth, productive, and successful. I also feel very proud of my own team. We all deserve a round of the loudest applause.
中国国家主席习近平上周刚刚对美国进行了成功的国事访问。在中美双方的共同努力下，此访获得了圆满成功，取得了丰硕成果。借此机会，我要向过去数月所有为此访作出贡献的人士表示衷心感谢。
The founding of the People's Republic of China 66 years ago inaugurated the most profound social transformation in the Chinese history. Over these years, China has emerged from desperate poverty to become the second largest economy of the world. It has pulled back from the edge of disintegration to become a united, strong, and prosperous country on the way to realizing the great Chinese dream of national rejuvenation. This has not only improved the livelihood of the Chinese people, but has also provided tremendous opportunities to the world.
66年前，中国共产党领导中国人民建立了中华人民共和国，开启了中国历史上最伟大、最深刻的社会变革。66年来特别是改革开放30多年来，中国发生了翻天覆地的变化，从一个积贫积弱的国家发展成为世界第二大经济体，从濒临分裂的边缘发展成为一个团结、强大、繁荣的国家，正在为实现中华民族伟大复兴的中国梦而努力奋斗。
This year marks the 70th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War. It is also the 70th anniversary of the United Nations. As a staunch defender of peace and a founding member of the UN, China is firmly committed to upholding the post-War international order centered on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter. We will adhere to the path of peaceful development, and will continue to be the steadfast force for peace, stability and development across the world.
今年是中国人民抗日战争暨世界反法西斯战争胜利70周年，联合国成立70周年。作为二战主要战胜国和联合国创始成员国，中国坚决维护以联合国宪章宗旨和原则为核心的战后国际秩序。中国将坚持走和平发展道路，继续为世界的和平、繁荣与发展作出更多贡献。

女士们、先生们，
The year 2015 is another milestone in China-U.S. relations. The successful state visit to the United States by President Xi Jinping took our relations to a higher level.
今年是中美关系具有里程碑意义的重要一年。习近平主席刚刚对美国进行的成功国事访问使中美关系迈上了新的台阶。
The two sides achieved their targeted goal of enhancing mutual trust through the state visit. President Xi and President Obama, through their long private dinner at the Blair House and their official talks at the White House, agreed to continue the endeavor to build a new model of major-country relationship based on mutual respect and win-win cooperation. The topics they discussed were so strategic. Yet the atmosphere was so relaxed, sincere and constructive. It certainly carried forward the good tradition from Sunnylands in 2013 and Yingtai in 2014.
这是一次增信释疑之旅。访问期间，两国元首延续了“庄园会晤”和“瀛台夜话”的传统，在布莱尔国宾馆举行小范围晚宴，在白宫进行正式会谈。两位领导人在宽松的氛围下再次进行了长时间、深入坦诚的战略沟通。双方重申继续致力于构建基于相互尊重、合作共赢的中美新型大国关系。
The two sides expanded their cooperation through the state visit. We reached important agreement in various fields, such as economic relations and trade, energy, people-to-people exchanges, science and technology, agriculture, law enforcement, cyber security, defense, aviation, and infrastructure. The two sides released fruitful lists of outcomes. A large number of cooperation agreements were also signed. All in all, the visit leveled up our cooperation and brought new elements into the new model of major-country relationship between the two countries.
这是一次聚焦合作之旅。双方就经贸、能源、人文、气变、环保、金融、科技、农业、执法、防务、航空、基础设施建设等诸多领域达成重要共识，发布了丰硕的成果清单，签署了一批影响深远的合作协议。此访推动两国务实合作进入新阶段，为中美新型大国关系增添了新内涵。
The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further cooperation on regional and international issues as well as global challenges. They agreed to endeavor to build a relationship of positive interaction and inclusive cooperation in the Asia-Pacific. They decided to enhance communication on UN peacekeeping, development cooperation, the 2030 agenda for sustainable development, food security, global health, and humanitarian assistance and disaster response. The United States offered its support to China's presidency of the G-20 in 2016. Following the historic joint announcement on climate change last November in Beijing, the two presidents issued the Joint Presidential Statement on Climate Change, reaffirming their determination to promote sustainable development and the transition to green, low-carbon, and climate-resilient economies. In a word, the state visit further highlighted the international dimension of China-U.S. relations.
双方决定加强在国际和地区事务中的协调合作，共同应对全球性挑战。双方同意在亚太地区努力构建积极互动、包容合作的关系。双方决定加强在联合国维和、发展合作、2030年可持续发展议程、粮食安全、公共卫生及全球卫生安全、人道主义援助与灾害应对等领域的协调合作。美方表示支持中方担任2016年二十国集团（G20）主席国。继去年11月中美元首发表历史性的气候变化联合声明后，此次两国元首再次发表气候变化联合声明，重申加强双边协调与合作，推进可持续发展及向绿色、低碳和气候适应型经济转型的决心。此访进一步凸显了中美关系的全球意义。
The state visit brought the Chinese and American peoples ever closer to each other. Wherever President Xi and Mme. Peng Liyuan went, they reached out to the American people. From Washington State to Washington, D.C., from the Emerald city to the big Apple, from the United States to the United Nations, the President interacted with federal and sub-national officials, business communities, friendship groups, workers and scientists, teachers and students. The visit showed to the American people who we are as a nation – what our values are, what we believe in, what we aim at, and what we want from China-U.S. relations. Mme. Peng and Mrs. Michelle Obama also spent quality time together, in the White House and the National Zoo. They named the newly-born panda cub, Bei Bei. This was just one of the many highlights of the visit designed to enhance friendship between our two peoples.
这是一次面向人民之旅。访问期间，习近平主席和彭丽媛女士广泛接触美国各界人士。从华盛顿州的西雅图到首都华盛顿，再到联合国所在地纽约，习主席夫妇与美国地方省州、工商企业、友好团体等各界人士互动，面向社会各界发表演讲，同企业家代表举行座谈，同学校师生亲切交流，全面展示了中国的形象和面貌，阐明对中美关系的看法主张。彭丽媛女士还和奥巴马总统夫人米歇尔女士一起前往位于华盛顿的国家动物园，看望旅居美国的中国大熊猫，给熊猫宝宝起名“贝贝”，谱写了中美友好交流的又一佳话。
The two sides also reaffirmed their commitment to addressing disagreements in a constructive way. No one expected all the difficult issues to disappear once for all after one state visit. And there won't be a day when China-U.S. relations is free of challenges. Yet strategic communications at the top level undoubtedly helped the two sides understand more about each other's concerns. This paved the way for proper management of the differences so that they won't stand in the way of our cooperation. Not only that. The two sides also agreed to work together in a creative and constructive manner to turn the differences into rallying points. This will have a far-reaching impact on China-U.S. relations.
访问期间，双方也就两国关系面临的各种问题和挑战深入坦诚交换了意见，重申以建设性方式妥善管控分歧。中美存在分歧在所难免，也不可能在一夜间全部解决。关键是双方应该加强沟通，在相互尊重、求同存异的基础上，以建设性方式增进理解、扩大共识，努力把矛盾点转化为合作点。
The world in the 21st century is full of opportunities and challenges. It is more imperative than ever that our two countries work together, so that the opportunities will not slip away through our fingers, and the challenges will be tackled. We are ready to do our part. We hope the United States will be ready to do its part. I also hope that you, who are present here this evening, will continue to provide us with your generous support. We, together, can certainly make this world a better place for our future generations.To conclude, I would like to propose a toast,
当今世界机遇与挑战都前所未有。中美两国如能携手合作，我们就能更好地抓住机遇，应对挑战。中方愿意为此作出积极努力，希望美方也能相向而行。借此机会，我要对大家长期以来支持中国发展、积极促进中美关系表示衷心感谢，希望大家继续为此发挥积极作用。我提议：
