MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:Well, thank you very much for taking the time to talk to us today. I wanted to start by just delving a little bit into so much attention that you've gotten here. You've been called the best pitcher in Japan, which is the baseball craziest country I've ever seen. How do you manage to deal with all that pressure every day?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:I don't really feel that much pressure. Instead, I'm just happy to play the game here. I have a pride in being a baseball player.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:It's rare to see a pitcher who improves so steadily over time as you have. Your ERN has dropped every year, and you seem very focused on it. How do you set goals for yourself as a pitcher?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:It might seem that I'm making steady achievement, but no game is perfect. Still, that imperfection gives me my motivation to improve. I won't be satisfied unless I win all 25 games in a season. I think I can improve myself until I reach such perfection.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:I've heard a lot of successful starting pitchers say that the difference between a good pitcher and a great pitcher is as much mental as it is physical. How do you prepare yourself mentally before a start?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:I always have the same mental state, even on the field. It is the same as when I am not pitching. I don't really get excited or nervous. It is important to remain calm all the time. The difference between a good pitcher and an excellent pitcher would be, well, a mere good pitcher would get upset and too serious if he gets hit. But a great pitcher would stay calm and even think about getting the next batter out. That's the difference.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:What drives you in baseball? What is it you love so much about this game?

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:Your father is Iranian, your mother is Japanese. What was it like for you growing up with that background here?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:I grew up in a different environment from the typical Japanese family. Compared to them, we had quite a different life, but my parents were a great influence, and I am very grateful for that.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:For people who don't come from big baseball playing countries, can you describe what it's like here in japan, what the atmosphere is like around baseball?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:Baseball is a game where you can never predict what will happen next. With great players, the sport creates drama. If you come to the stadium, you'll understand how exciting baseball is. I wish everyone could see a game in Japan.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:And the fans, particularly I would say the fans of your team, are very enthusiastic, aren't they? Do you hear them while you're out there on the mound?

YU DARVISH, JAPANESE BASEBALL STAR:What I only think of now is the game I play next, and prepare myself for it. Therefore, for now I don't have any particular future goals.

MORGAN NEILL, TALK ASIA:We've seen Ichiro, Matsui, Matsuzaka have great success playing in the United States. Could you see yourself doing the same some day?
